“The devil made me do it…” We’ve all heard someone say that to get out of a tight spot. If you say something you didn’t mean to say or do something you didn’t mean to do, well it wasn’t me at all, I was possessed.

What happens though when someone does something so horrific that it seems as though evil is the only possible answer?  And what if that person actually claims to have been possessed?

In this episode Darlene and Jen talk about five different men who have actually used the defense of possession.  They have all committed horrible acts and yet claim they weren’t in control of themselves when it happened.  They say that the devil quite literally made them do it.

So are there demons who possess people and cause them to kill?  Or is it just a defense tactic?  Join us to discuss these men and their claims of possession.

Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody…

Look in the bathroom mirror and say her name three times and she will appear.  Or is it seven times? Or Thirteen? Like many urban legends, the one of Bloody Mary isn’t always clear.  She might come and kill you if she appears, or drag you into the mirror, or scare you or maybe tell you your future.  It all depends on where you live, who you hear the story from, and maybe even how much teenage girls at a slumber party want to scare each other.

Mirrors have many legends surrounding them, something we’ll surely explore at a later date, but for this one we talked all about Mary and who she might be, where this may have started and just how brave you have to be to stand in that dark room, with a flashlight, stare into the mirror and say her name.

1960 was a leap year, one of those February 29ths that rarely happen, a special day. A sunny day in El Paso, Texas that got up to 67 degrees by noon. A day that gave birth to one of the most notorious serial killers in history, California’s Night Stalker.  Richard Ramirez.

Ramirez grew up in Texas, with an abusive father and a mother who could do nothing to stop him. “Richie” got close to an older cousin who showed him graphic pictures of abuse he heaped upon the people of Vietnam while he was stationed there. Telling him stories of rape and torture and showing 12-year-old Richie his prized photo of him posing with a woman’s head he had cut off.  That was just one of the many things that shaped Richard Ramirez and sent him to his lifetime worship of Satan. By the time he left Texas for California at 22, he was primed to kill.

Darlene and Jen examine how he ended up in California and the multitude of murders, assaults, burglaries and attempted murders that held Southern California hostage for a year until he was caught, not by the police but a group of citizens from one of the neighborhoods he had terrorized.

Plus some interesting info about DNA at a crime scene that wasn’t his….What do you think happened at that scene? Do you believe Ramirez made a pact with the devil?  Was he crazy? Or evil?

We found stories of hitchhiking ghosts all over the world. Most of the stories all have one thing in common, something traumatic happened to them usually on the same date  (different year of course) as they are getting picked up. There are stories of people interacting with the  hitchhiking ghosts while in the car and they didn’t even know they were a ghost – how creepy is that?

Most stories will find a nighttime traveler (usually a man) driving along a dark stretch of road where they pick up a hitchhiker. They proceed to drive them to their location and the hitchhiker will just vanish or get out of the car. The driver somehow mysteriously finds out that the hitchhiker died sometime ago.

Listen as Jen and Darlene talk about some stories in their areas including the infamous Resurrection Mary.

Welcome to Amityville, NY. 112 Ocean Avenue is a gorgeous home with it’s own boat dock and lots of space for an active and growing family. It’s priced to sell, such a good deal is almost impossible to pass up. There is one tiny little catch though…something evil is here, living in this place. Something that can make a son kill his parents and siblings and take a family and change them, frighten them, to the point they run out of the house with nothing but the clothes on their backs within 28 days and refuse to return. Ever.
